Once again, it’s that time of year for Brian Connor's Rice Lake Challenge in support of Duchenne muscular dystropy! Duchenne is a progressive genetic disorder that gradually weakens the body's muscles, this is the most common affecting 1 in every 5000 boys. Most kids with Duchenne are using a wheelchair by the time they are 12.
Brian had two brothers that had Duchenne and it has been his quest to find a cure so no other family like his own has to suffer. Eleven years ago he teamed up with some high school friends in his hometown of Cobourg and the "Rice Lake Challenge" was born. Initially Brian and his friend George teamed up for a 4.5km swim across Rice Lake and since then they have added to the Challenge. There is a 100km bike ride around the lake, a 5km walk through the village of Gores Landing, our 22kms walk from the Cobourg beach to the dock in Gores Landing and joining Brian and George in the water will be Brandy and Chelsea who will be paddling across the lake. and our contribution which is walking from the Town of Cobourg to the dock in Gores Landing for a total distance of 22kms.
We would love your support!
