Virtual Walk Sites Across Canada
The Walk to Defeat Duchenne presented by Sbenati Dentistry unites families from coast to coast to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In 1995 John Davidson pushed his son, Jesse, across Ontario. This foundational feat launched Canada’s largest movement to fund research and support families living with Duchenne. This year, we invite you to join us as the Walk celebrates the 25th anniversary of Jesse's Journey.
Due to COVID-19, the Walk to Defeat Duchenne presented by Sbenati Dentistry has been rescheduled and will now take place on World Duchenne Awareness Day, Monday, September 7, 2020 - this means you have more time to grow your team and raise vital funds!
While this is an uncertain time for everyone, the fight to defeat the most common fatal disease diagnosed in childhood, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, does not stop. We hope you will refocus your efforts online - by encouraging your supporters to donate towards your Walk and sharing your participation on social media.
It is our hope to host the event in London, Ontario, along with being joined by you – families across Canada – hosting your own Walk in your local community, but the health and safety of the Duchenne community and following the guidance of Health Canada is our priority. Please keep an eye on this page, your inbox, and social media as we continue to communicate updates and information.

About Jesse's Journey
Jesse's Journey is Canada's leading charity in the fight to defeat Duchenne muscular dystrophy – the most common fatal genetic disease diagnosed in childhood. Affecting approximately 1 in every 5,000 boys in Canada, Duchenne gradually weakens the body’s muscles and ultimately leads to the deterioration of vital organs, such as the heart and lungs. Jesse's Journey supports patients, families, and caregivers living with Duchenne through educational programs and resources, provides a collective voice to advocate for timely access to affordable treatments in Canada, and funds the most promising research to improve the lives of boys and young men.
Impact of Your Gift
Thanks to the generous donations by Walk participants and supporters, Jesse's Journey has been able to invest more than $11.5 million into research. As a result of our grants to research over the course of 25 years, there have been major advancements in clinical discoveries, significant improvements in the quality of life for those living with Duchenne, and children with Duchenne are living longer lives.
